Our New Gastown Office
As much as we loved our old spot in the Electra Building at Burrard and Nelson and our proximity to everything downtown, it was time for a change of pace. So we recently packed our bags (and our desks) to set up shop in Vancouver’s historic Gastown.
Our new office is quite a bit larger than our last spot, with it’s own boardroom and some great new views. The views are bit dangerous, however, as we look directly into some expensive boutiques across the street…
Also amazing are the local food spots. The city’s best taco spots within a short walking distance has the whole team very, very happy and we know there is still so much to discover in our new neighborhood.
In case you were wondering about the building’s history (we were curious), the two storey commercial building was built in 1912 and was originally known as the Homer Street Arcade. Designed by architects Stuart and White, the prominent south facing side of the building was treated as the front facade and received the most elaborate architectural detailing. (That’s the side we’re on in case you were wondering… and we get full sun in the afternoon. The summer is going to be HOT.)
Funnily enough, the water street facing side wasn’t given the same attention and appears more industrial in nature. In the 80’s the Arcade was rehabilitated as ‘Le Magasin”, retaining the original passageway features including the elaborate, pressed tin ceilings.
So that’s the new digs. We’re still in the process of unpacking and making it feel like our second home, but once that’s all done we have plans for an open house later in the month. Come by, say hi, have a beer with us! You’ll even be subliminally influenced to sign up for a new car share while you’re at it.
